Tegalalang Rice Terrace is located at a short distance from Ubud. Tegalalang rice terrace is easiest among the two to visit in Bali. Rice Terrace here are smaller in size from Jatiuwih and won’t take too much time to walk around.

Entrance ticket to visit Tegalalang Rice Terraces is 10,000 IDR (around 52/- INR)

although several enterprising locals have set up some donation stations where they expect money from you. so it is advisable to keep some change for that.


How to reach

The place is located 10 km from the Ubud and you can easily reach there with public transport as well.

You can reach the place by renting a scooter or a private cab and driver for the whole day

Perfect For Trekking.

The Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is at a distance from the Ubud and is very larger in the area then Tegalalang. Jatiluwih has the long track which can take up to 2-2.5 hours to complete the whole track.

Majorly the track starts from the roads at the top of the fields and descends into the terrace to join up with the network of the track. There are few restaurants above the rice terrace with some good view of the rice terrace of Jatiluwih.

The Jatiluwih Rice Terraces are far more open and you can see several volcanoes including Mount Agung, Bali’s tallest volcano. The views are pretty amazing and the terraces themselves are very photogenic. The place also a lot quieter, which you can feel by visiting there.

You won’t find any swings either, so if your main motivation for visiting rice terraces is to get a “swing photo” for Instagram you’d better head to Tegalalang.

Entrance Ticket

Well, there is not an official ticket charge to visit the place but some local may charge you 20,000 IDR. Otherwise, there is only a parking charge to park your vehicle.

How to reach

Jatiluwih is a bit more off the beaten path and you will need to get the organise transport to get there.

You can reach there by a private cab or scooter. which you can easily get on rent for a whole day.

For ease of the access and with less travel time and with good views, Tegalalang is a great option. Here you can get a good view of Rice Terrace of Bali and will spear time to visit other places too.

And if you are looking for more natural views of mountains and volcanos. Jatiluwih is a better option for you. But if you have plenty of time and want to take full views of the Bali natural views. I would suggest you visit both places and decide for yourself which you find better.
