The full name of Ubud Monkey forest is Padangtegal Mandala Wisata Wanara Wana Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary according to its welcome sign at the entry Gate.
Bali Ubud Monkey Forest is a small rain forest habitat of some group of monkeys and other tropical animals here. It is located in the middle of Ubud Village.
The monkey is believed to protect the area and three Hindu temples within Pura Dalem Agung, Pura Beji and Pura Prajapati from evil spirits.
The Monkey forest itself owns a significant role in the continuity of the monkey habitat in the island. In which locals play an important role to keep the place natural.
The sanctuary’s primate residents are its most popular attraction, along with ancient temples, dense forest, and over 186 tree species. Stroll through the sacred site to observe the monkeys in action and click photos from a safe distance. When to Visit Ubud Monkey Forest
The best time to visit the Ubud’s monkey forest is during the dry months of April to September. In that season the forest makes pleasant weather and escape from the afternoon heat.
Do visit the forest in the early hours as the temperature at that time remains low compared to other times. But expect crowds during this time of year.
When to Visit
Forest Opening Hours
The Ubud Monkey forest opens at 8:30 Am to 6:00 Pm in evening daily. We suggest you visit the site in the morning as the temperature stays at low in the morning.
Ticket are available at the entry gate of the forest and sale until 5:30 Pm, as that is the last entrance time.

Entry Ticket Price
The entrance ticket fee is 80,000 IDR (412/- INR) is for an adult and 60,000 IDR (310/- INR) for the children. You can also buy bananas from the entrance to feed the monkeys.

The sacred sanctuary of Monkey is located on the southern border of Ubud town around 3 km from the south-central town with a leading road also with the name of Monkey Forest.
You can reach to forest form many sides besides from central town of Ubud, From the eastern corner of the Ubud and the southern area of Ubud.
The distance from the Kuta to Forest is 55 km, from Sanur is around 40 Kms and from the Nusa Dua is around 65 Km.

Keep your things Safe
The monkeys are notorious for stealing personal belongings. Don’t bring items you don’t want to lose, such as jewellery, sunglasses, wallets, and keys.
Beware of Monkeys
The macaques are wild animals and can be aggressive, particularly in their pursuit of food. As such, feeding, touching, or playing with them is discouraged. The monkeys do sometimes climb on people if encouraged.
Don’t buy bananas
You’ll get enough opportunity to take photographs of animals without feeding them. But if you still buy bananas monkeys can climb on you to get the bananas and which can be annoying for any person.
Dress conservatively if you plan to visit the temple complex inside the forest. .
